There is an art to closing an album. After nine tracks of rebellion, chaos, heartbreak, and raw grief, we needed to leave the listener with a final, lingering thought. Being the last track on a tracklist often carries the stigma of being an afterthought or a "filler" song, but Hold On is the exact opposite. It is the grand finale, the emotional culmination of the entire Summer Never Lies era.
The song was written for anyone fighting a silent battle. When the darkness creeps beneath your skin and the voices whisper to just let it in, Hold On is meant to be that heavy, comforting hand on your shoulder. It’s a reminder that you are a flame beyond control, and that surviving just one more day is sometimes the greatest victory of all.
Musically, we knew the standard setup of guitars, bass, and drums wasn't going to be enough to carry the emotional weight of the finale. We needed something deeper, something that resonated right in your chest. That’s when we decided to bring in a cello.
The addition of the cello gave the track a truly spectacular touch. Its rich, weeping tone weaves through the heavy, distorted guitars, adding a cinematic layer of melancholy that eventually builds into an epic, soaring climax. It grounds the song, making it feel ancient and urgent all at once.
When the final note rings out and the cello slowly fades into silence, the album is over, but the message remains: You’re a story yet untold.
